Bassai is built by a small team. When you write, a human reads it. Most questions get answered the same day; complicated ones take a bit longer but never disappear.

Before you write

A lot of Bassai questions have answers in the Privacy and Terms pages. If you want to know what data is sent where, the Privacy page lays it out item by item. If you want to know who owns your log, Terms covers it.

The questions below are the ones we hear most often — skim first, email second.

I can't get the app to recognize my location

Bassai uses your iPhone's Core Location — the same GPS stack every map app uses. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Bassai and set it to While Using the App at minimum (or Always if you want Live Trip to keep tracking while the screen is off). Also make sure Precise Location is on — approximate location is too coarse for water-body detection.

How do I sync my log to another iPhone?

iCloud Sync is a Bassai Plus feature, off by default. The Settings → Sync with iCloud section is visible to every tier — Free users see the upgrade path when they try to turn it on. To use it:

  1. Sign both iPhones into the same Apple Account (Apple ID) with iCloud enabled.
  2. Make sure your Bassai Plus subscription is active.
  3. On each iPhone, open Settings → Sync with iCloud and turn the toggle on.
  4. Restart Bassai when prompted — the change applies on the next launch.
  5. Give Apple's iCloud sync some time, especially for a large library on first sync; photos on the second device are rebuilt from the synced copies.

If trips still don't appear: confirm both iPhones use the same Apple ID and are online, that Plus is active, and restart Bassai again. Bassai runs no account and keeps no server copy, so there is no Bassai-side way to view or restore your private iCloud data for you — everything travels inside your own iCloud.

Without iCloud Sync, Bassai stores your log on the one device (and it may be included in your iCloud Backup). Chat with Hank conversations stay on-device either way.

Can I export my log?

Bassai is your logbook — you can take it with you. If you'd like a copy of your data, email us and we'll pull it for you manually. Your data will always be exportable in an open format (CSV + photo bundle).

Something is broken — where do I send the bug?

Email hi@bassai.com with Bug report in the subject. If you can, include: iPhone model, iOS version (Settings → General → About → iOS Version), Bassai version (bottom of the About screen), and what you were doing when it broke. A screenshot or screen recording helps more than you'd think.

Press, partnerships, or business questions

Same address — hi@bassai.com — but put Press, Partnership, or Business in the subject and we'll route it.

Security disclosure

If you've found a vulnerability in Bassai or bassai.com, we appreciate the heads-up. Email hi@bassai.com with Security disclosure in the subject — please don't post publicly until we've had a chance to respond. We typically acknowledge within one business day.
